Moving on, remember when I went to Columbia, MO to DJ the Opening Night Party at the True/False Film Festival?  Well, someone wrote something nice about me HERE!  (See it?  At the very bottom of the post:  "We were teased with  refreshing change of pace, but all too briefly."  I AM THAT REFRESHING CHANGE OF PACE THAT THEY ARE REFERRING TO!!  Thank you Silver Nitrate!)

& now, some music....I know why you really come here:

Mercury Rev -- Something for Joey
Wow.  Mercury Rev has a pretty interesting story & honestly, a lot of their music is just TOO MUCH for me, but this song is a psychedelic beauty.  Here's another gem:  The Dark is Rising.

Stone Roses -- What the World is Waiting for
Did you know that the Stone Roses were originally called English Rose (after the Jam song)?  I remember hearing "Fool's Gold" for the first time.  I knew that I was hearing something special.  That song & the album Stone Roses marked a turning point in my music nerd life for sure.

I really like the Wikipedia biography -- & this made me laugh:  "Although it has been over a decade since he left the Roses, Squire still has a lasting feud with ex-bandmate, Ian Brown.  In a 2005 Q Magazine article, Squire blasted Brown, claiming that "When he (Brown) was stoned, he was at best a tuneless knob and at worst a paranoid mess" (but he was only responding to queries about what went wrong with the Second Coming sessions and the state of Brown's vocal due to his marijuana habits). Although both Brown and Squire have performed Stone Roses songs in their solo gigs, a band reunion seems unlikely."  Snicker.  Oooh & LOOK AT WHAT ELSE I FOUND!

Mazzy Star -- Give You My Lovin'
Sprung from Opal & the Rain Parade, Mazzy Star epitomized the druggy dream pop sound.  Check it out, the videos for Halah, Fade into You & Flowers in December.

Oh YouTube, what would I do without you?
