Check out this sweet New Year's Eve Flyer! Pretty hot eh? Julie at LAST EXIT made it -- I love it!
So the idea is ANY music that was made during the seventies will be played -- so disco will definitely be a large part of the night, BUT there will also be a lot of other genres repra zentin' too!
It's going to get ridiculous -- I'm talking: NY Dolls, the Ramones, Fleetwood Mac, Big Star, Rick James, Hall & Oates, Journey, Heart, Rolling Stones, Sly & the Family Stones, Van Halen, Earth, Wind & Fire, Steely Dan, T Rex, Neil Diamond, Queen, Velvet Underground, Jonathan Richman, ABBA, Micheal Jackson, Prince, Neu!, Thin Lizzy, the Stooges, Cheap Trick, ELO, AC/DC, Bee Gees, Tom Petty, Kraftwerk, the Cars, David Bowie, Stevie Wonder, Nick Lowe, Television, Can, Huey Lewis, John Lennon, Pretenders, Roxy Music, the Clash, Led Zeppelin... & who knows what else? It's gonna be MADNESS I tell you!
We really WILL have a DISCOTHEQUE goin' that night too! We'll be moving out some of the couches so that people can really get down with their bad selves in the back. PLUS 'Regal Beagal' drink specials until 11 pm, FREE champagne toast at midnight AND THERE'S NO COVER!!
SO...you better be there!

Whew! Okay you've been so very patient & have read this entire post & donated to my radio show & whatnot so you should be handsomely rewarded, my friend. Here are some lovely songs for you to love (including what is quite possibly the GREATEST Christmas cover of all time):
Anyone who knows me &/or reads this blog knows I love me some DOP! A little over a year ago, Doug & Joe played an awesome (though a bit groggy) acoustic set on my radio show. they are super nice but, the cutest one of all did not make it down with them. This was a bit of a lte down at the time, however it's probably for the best as I hear he is...how you say...a bit of a stinker. Here's a link to their MySpace page & here's a fun video for the song (directed by my good friend Jacob Hensberry)-- they're travelling all over & put on a great show, so catch 'em live!
While I'm not a big fan of the Smashing Pumpkins, I love this song! I also LOVE the video (which was directed by Jonathan Dayton & Valerie Faris who also directed "Little Miss Sunshine").
A Band of Bees -- These are the Ghosts
I know very little about A Band of Bees except to say that this song is GENIUS & it looks like they have a new release!
Silversun Pickups -- Dream at Tempo 119
They were all the rage at CMJ this year! Check them out on MySpace! I see they're touring & they're playing Madison Square Garden here in NYC. That's insane considering they played at the lovely (but considerably smaller) Union Hall in Brooklyn over the summer. DAMN that's nuts.
Smoking Popes -- Need You Around
I know i know. The lead singer's a born-again Christian or something but this song -- COME ON! It's soooo good! And they're back together again, making music in Chicago, living the dream... Check out their MySpace page while you're at it.
Yes! It's a cover of the seasonal George Michael classic & a damn good one. Pas/Cal makes some of the most perfect bubblegum pop music there is. (And because I love them I recently purchased the adorable "Je T'Aime Pas/Cal" ladies t-shirt & it should be arriving any day now) This song really gets you into the holiday spirit, doesn't it? Now, if i could only get all of my Christmas shopping done & be magically transported to DC instead of having to take the Chinatown bus....Le sigh.

Merry Christmas to you, and see you in April in NY !!!!!
