LAZY SUMMER DAYS IN NYC
I've had a lovely weekend "chillaxin" with friends & really doing a whole lot of nothing in particular, but it's exactly what I needed.
However, this week will be crazy --> On Friday 8/11 I'm spinning at my totally fun monthly dance party: SHAKE SOME ACTION! @ THE ROYALE in Park Slope, Brooklyn. It's the best dance party in the BK -- DJBJ & I spin the ass shakers & you shake your ass! Always a good time, cheep drink specials, a dance floor & it's FREE! Check out THE ROYALE'S MYSPACE PAGE for more info & come say hello!
Then on Tuesday 8/15 I'm guest DJing BEG YR PARDON @ THE DELANCEY & I couldn't be more stoked! It looks like I'll be spinning the later part of the evening & Jeff Klingman from Merry Swankster will be spinning the early part & the band line-up will be:
8 pm Animandible
9 pm My Teenage Stride
10 pm EZ Machine --> So psyched -- my boyz!
11 pm Cassettes Won't Listen
SO MARK YOUR CALENDAR, COME OUT & SAY HI!
Now, here is a mix of HOTT songs burnin' up my iPod this week -- this mix is called:
THE CHRYSLER BUILDING SPARKLES, THE HOT BROOKLYN PUSSY CHILLS
(please see photo above -- of course I'm talking about a PUSSYCAT. Yeesh.)
AIR MIAMI -- Airplane Rider
Air Miami sure were short-lived but this song is a lil pop gem.
MIOU MIOU -- A L'ete de la Saint-Martin '68
* a BIG thank you to Colin @ Let's Kiss & Make Up for posting this song the other day -- I'm LUVIN' it & am completely obsessed! Go check out MIOU MIOU @ their MYSPACE PAGE!
THE HALO BENDERS -- Snowfall
Sad 'n lovely. You can hear the beginnings of Built to Spill rising in this one.
ALTHEA & DONNA -- Up Town Top Ranking
What's this? Me posting a REGGAE ditty?? Don't expect to see much more from this genre but enjoy this summery offering. Go smoke a blunt, you pothead.
CASIOTONE FOR THE PAINFULLY ALONE -- Toby take a Bow
An excellent tribute song for the Smiths -- BRAVO CFTPA, BRAVO!
THE SUGARCUBES -- Delicious Demon
I love pretty much everything about this numbah -- hell, even the totally useless Sugarcubes guy adds something to it!
SUPERCHUNK -- Throwing Things (Acoustic)
Aw Mac, you sure can write a lovely little ditty when you're not TOTALLY RAWKIN' OUT...
COCTEAU TWINS -- Pandora
It's pretty hard to pick one Cocteau Twins song, so I eenie-meenie-minie-mo'ed it. You really can't go wrong... & this one sounds like floating on a cloud.
** FEEL LIKE YOU'RE REALLY IN NYC BY WATCHING MAGNETIC FIELDS -- STRANGE POWERS VIDEO! **

Airplane Rider is the first song I posted on my new indie vinyl --> mp3 blog. Guess I'm not so original, as you posted it 136 days ago! Clearly this web thing goes much deeper than I knew. And lucky for me, it took me to your blog where I got to hear that terrific little Miou Miou song. Thanks! If you miss mid 90s indie pop/rock, feel free to stop by my blog.
