Firstly, thanks to everyone who made it out to my guest DJ night at MONDO & to RAW SUGAR. Both were awesome & I appreciate the support!
Moving on, I need to remember that I really shouldn't attempt conversation with a guy I've had a lil crush on after only four hours of sleep the night before. Makes for cringe-worthy small talk. Oy. Whatevs...
Here's a mix for you, mon petit chapeau. Enjoy.
I'M STARTING TO THINK THAT I'M KIND OF SHY...(or at least i'd like to be):
Lullaby Baxter Trio -- Knucklehead Appropriate & completely adorable. I used to play this on my radio show back in Chicago & was happy to rediscover it when I found Miss Lullaby B's profile on her Myspace page.
Casiotone for the Painfully Alone -- I Should have Kissed you when I had the Chance
"I remember watching you go & the long walk home, past the blinking lights of the strip clubs & the Carl's Jr..." Wish I met this boy when I lived in Chicago because I have a big crush on his music.
Velocity Girl -- Pop Loser
Velocity Girl tells the story of my college years. Sadly, there's no website for them but you can check out an interesting lil write up about them -- HERE. And lead vocalist Sarah Shannon has been keeping herself busy. Other than the Saturday People, what else have they been doing?
Unrest -- So So Sick
Another one of my college favorites, I'll never stop listening to Unrest. Mark Robinson writes the BEST pop songs & I met him once when he was playing in Flin Flon & he was SO NICE! Check out Unrest's profile on the Teenbeat Records site. Oh Teenbeat! Oh & here's an open invitation to Mr Robinson himself: Mark, when you play your next show in NYC please come on my Sat AM radio show!
The Troggs -- With a Girl like You
This song is so great but this line KILLS me: "Til that time has come where we might live as one, can I dance with you?" Here's some info about the Troggs on Wikipedia.
The Replacements -- When it Began
The last time I've even really thought of the Replacements was when Midge was visiting me in NYC last year & we heard that Tommy Stinson was hanging out post-show at some dive bar in the East Village. So we tromped over there to try to locate him & were completely unsuccessful. Tommy used to make all the girls swoony back in the day. I have a feeling that today however, he might look like he's been hit in the face with a bag of dirty nickles (TM Midge!). More about the Replacements HERE.
Pedro the Lion -- When they Really get to Know you they will Run
David Bazan, sometimes you bore me & your religious overtones are too much but your voice is pretty durn nice so...I still like you. Here's some info about Pedro the Lion.
Interpol -- PDA
When you're feeling especially lonely in NYC, put this song on so you can really FEEL it. Was this song written as an homage to to the NY Cares coat program for the homeless? Those signs are all over the subway...just wondering. I saw Carlos D flipping thru country records at last year's WFMU Record Fair..also there was Rosie Perez & Tom Verlaine! Ah whatever, here's Interpol's website.
Propaganda -- The Chase
"Hunting for a bygone picture, reviving phantoms of the past..." I love A Secret Wish -- such a great album... Find out more about the band at Allmusic.com.
Metric -- White Gold
Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Metric. Someone needs to send me some $$ so I can go see them with in Canada! Go to their official website -- & buy something!
Yo La Tengo -- Did I tell You
Ah this song...are you kidding me?! LOOOOVE IT. Go to Yo la Tengo's website
I just wish that if & when someone seems to have a crush on me they'd fucking get the ball rolling. i'm not that intimidating, am I?? Seriously. I hate having to do all of the work. ::sigh::

ah that one of my favorite Pedro the Lion songs!

No comment re: your weirdo-ness Pinkie (though I will say, how could my BFF not be a weirdo -- love ya!) -- but I think it speaks volumes that we neither of us realized that dear Colleen had posted the wrong I-pol song. Er, oops.

I once stood behind John Peel for ten minutes in a queue to pick up gig tickets at The Junction in Cambridge. Spent the whole time fretting about whether or not to speak to him, terrified of making a fool of myself. "Hello John" would probably have come out as "Squeak cough gwalgh", but in retrospect I should've opened my gob. Not quite a crush, but near as dammit...

WFMU> please tell me that a kitty wells record was involved in this picture. please. because actualization of the possibility of hearing "talk back trembling lips" at black & white is worth bronzing and putting on a shelf. ...and now colleen thinks i'm a weirdo.

Oh, stupid conversations with crush boys! This is a great mix.
*sigh* New York cares ... promise?
I'm still bummed out that I'm the only person I know that didn't see anyone notable at the WFMU record fair, though I still think that the boy I got into a shoving match with over a pristine copy of the first Roxy Music album was "somebody." (; Then again, I never recognize people of note when I'm out and about -- I gave directions to James Iha on the street at SXSW 05, and my friends were totally shocked that I didn't recognize him. At all.

Ah, ma chere Colleen. I have been infatuated ever since I heard the distant sounds of Dominatrix and was drawn, stumbling blindly, into sugartown. You weave the most exquisite musical tapestries. Bon courage!
